The word "Rajʿ" (رجع) in the verse "Wassamāā-I dhātirrajʿ'' (وَ السَّماءِ ذاتِ الرَّجْع) (tārigh: 11) is one of the words that commentators and Persian and Latin translators have not provided a single meaning of. Rain, rotation of the sun, moon and stars, angels, soul are among the meanings mentioned for this word in the interpretations and the two meanings of rain and rotation of the stars are mentioned in the translations. This research has investigated the causes of differences in the meaning of "Rajʿ" (رجع) with the analytical historical method and solved the problem with the new semantic method (substitution relations). Examining the lexical sources, the course of interpretations and the analysis of traditions, shows that some philologists and commentators were not precise in its meaning. Due to the fact that the narrations mentioned in this context have problems in document chain and carry multiple meanings, it is difficult to correctly distinguish between them. Also, the vocabulary sources could not prevent the difference of views; Therefore, in this research, by using substitution relations, the problem of distinguishing narrations and the correct meaning has been presented.
