Absolution from polytheists is one of the principles emphasized by the commentators of the sects; however, there is disagreement on the time and place of its implementation. The aim of this research is to find ways for Islamic schools to approximate the issue of absolution from polytheists in order to pave the way for the political-social actions of Muslims during the Hajj season. The present research, using an analytical method and with the help of library resources, examines the views of the commentators of the sects, and by going through the points of difference and comparing their points of commonality, seeks to create an approximate theory between the Shiite and Sunni perspectives. The results of the research show that the Sunni commentators have addressed the issue of absolution from polytheists based on the Holy Quran and have accepted it as a principle; however, some have limited it to the time of the Prophet; because the polytheists initially had control over the city of Mecca and the issue of absolution was necessary during the Abrahamic pilgrimage. After the conquest of Mecca, that necessity was removed and only its ruling remained. Shiite commentators introduce the issue of absolution from polytheists as transcendental.
